Runners with Asthma???

So I have exercise induced asthma which means that my asthma is triggered by strenuous activity.  It causes shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing and other symptoms during or after exercise.

I have wanted to start exercising to get in better shape and lose some lbs but I am really saddened that I cannot fully exercise or run without needing my inhaler and I recently went to my doctor to get a more potent medicine with a steroid to help my attacks.  My current inhaler is not working as well as I would like but I think I may need to see my doctor again for a new medication to help because I do not want my asthma to be the reason why I cannot run.

Are there are any runners out there who have asthma?  Any tips to keep it under control?
